Putin will have to stop. Experts on the press conference of Russian President

December 18th was held the concluding press conference of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Expectations were high hopes. I wanted to believe that in the minds of the Russian leader took evolutionary transformation, but alas – no miracle. The leader of the Russian Federation has used his old rhetoric – the cause of all ills Russia called the West, the events in Kyiv – “coup d’etat” and Donbass militants – “militias”.

His impressions of what he heard from the “Options” shared Russian human rights activist Elena Vasileva , ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Volodymyr Ogryzko and political analyst Yuri Romanenko .

Yelena Vasilyeva , Russian human rights activist, head of “Cargo 200” on Facebook

-How Do you think that is left behind the scenes of this press conference?

-Putin Does not understand that Russia is already in agony. Do not really understand. Either he’s bluffing until recently. He said an interesting phrase, when he was asked a question about Georgia. He said, in fact, and for Ukraine as well. He said if they did not resist, we all would be peaceful and everything would work out. That is – I would not have raped if she gave herself. It was such a context.

If Putin specifically sick on his head, then he should be put in the hospital. Because the man was carrying a blizzard and specific with regard to NATO, and in respect of the Customs Union. In fact, he says the world that the vehicle – is that he opposes NATO. And there he was going to drive all the Slavic countries. He believes that the Russian language is dominant, he should not die, and all have to speak it.

And Putin himself says: “I am responsible for everything.” If he is elected and is responsible for everything in the first place, it should be responsible for your market. The President is obliged to respect other countries, other religions, he is obliged to respect the language and nationality. When he begins to speak from a position of strength chauvinist, or he is a dictator who has a particular schizophrenia, or he really does not understand. And if he really does not understand, what for he manages such a country? He also built in Russia, “Titanic.”

-that Is, Putin intends to turn into a new Donbass Abkhazia?

-Yes I Am. But the fact that he speaks of the world, and is preparing for war. He’s not going to retreat from this plan. He believes that Ukraine should give him mercy. He does not understand the word “interaction”. He could not understand and does not want that there is another world, there are other people. He sees Ukraine as its property.

He had a dog that ran away. Now he is ready to kill this dog, kill, shoot just because she does not come back to him.

If you remove all podsmysl of what he says, we are left with a schizophrenic man who believes that NATO – is a threat throughout the world, is a threat to Russia. “They were flying all the time, and we did not fly.” Well, whose fault is it that you do not fly? I know the reform of the army at Serdyukov. This collapse and looting. I was there because she lived in Murmansk and in all these military units went.

Regions are starving, military units in closed camps – starving, there are no flights because the plane crashes. That power, which they say – it might, in fact, the fake, because specialists as there are none. This is exactly the reason why your “cyborgs” win. And Ukraine will win definitely. It’s not only the spirit. This desire is normal to defend their country. And there – half drunk, it is unclear who scored. I was told that “militias” in the Donbas as such no longer exists. All replaced by regular troops. Only now they mow under the “militia”.

That is Putin prepares, and once he’s ready, then he will retaliate. And I would be very sorry if the whole central part of Russia will be swept away by this blow.

He gave a promise to continue to pave the way to the Crimea by any means. We have become accustomed to understand its context between the lines – he said this today when he was asked a question about the Crimea. Say, is a holy place, and once a sacred place, we must cut through to him the way.

So it will have to stop.

-by The fact that it will have to stop. That today can and should make the Ukrainian government, hearing these words?

C the beginning, when I came to Ukraine, really wanted to Poroshenko did one very important thing legally. The fact that the collapse of the USSR were not legally decorated border. It was necessary to convene presidents and former Soviet republics together very clearly assert their own borders.

Look how long we had to prove that the Russian troops entered Ukraine. If it comes down to the Hague court, there would be considered not from an emotional point of view, but from a legal – what is written in the document. But the document does not say that Ukraine has borders in such-and-such points.

Volodymyr Ohryzko , ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine

-What Is your impression of the Russian president said the situation in Ukraine?

I think a lot, and not only in Kiev, expecting him to a sober assessment of what is happening. Unfortunately, nothing new we have not heard. I think we heard more cynicism. If Hope Savchenko actually called a terrorist , as well as other Ukrainian prisoners of war; say that the West is building a wall between Russia and the rest of the world; suggest that official Kiev conducts a punitive operation in the Donbas against its own people; that the Russian armed bandits – are volunteers – talk about some significant changes, unfortunately, is not necessary.

This means that Russia took a course of “Titanic,” which at full speed goes to his iceberg. But it’s her choice.

December 18 in Moscow, Russian President  Vladimir Putin gave a press conference  at the end of the year. In his speech he talked about the “external causes”  the fall of the Russian economy , he touched  the war in Donbas , laying all the blame for what is happening in Ukraine, and said that the West  is preparing for the role of Russian bear on a chain .

Experts, political scientists and journalists discuss expressed in the Moscow declaration. Their findings are sad that Putin does not know how to save the Russian economy, while he speaks of the world, and is preparing for war.

Russian journalist Anton Walnut skeptical about the speech of Russian President.
“Answer a few questions, said that all would be well – and went back to the Kremlin. It was a speech of a man who does not really know what to do. And this is the most important and the sad result. Because now we have to understand that we have to somehow get out themselves. And the president relies on a curve that will take out, on the off chance that work, and on the economy, which he said, “adapt.” itself. And this is his optimism.
Do not say anything, powerful launch pad. He also animated in the moments when I could talk about the Ukrainian “punitive” or about treachery abroad, took up arms against us. Or about the pipe, which we will extend to China to give China gas for nothing … In fact, this press conference was to break the record length, and 90% of the conversation, Putin was obliged to devote to the difficult economic situation in the country. Belarusian Orthodox Church wants autonomy from Moscow Patriarchate

“Given that the Moscow Patriarchate has long treated its Belarusian hierarchs in ways little different from those that it does bishops inside the Russian Federation, including imposing the current metropolitan from the outside, this represents a remarkable turn of events which highlights growing Belarusian nationalism and possibly presages larger church shifts ahead.”

Metropolitan Pavel [in photo], the head of the Belarusian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, has unexpectedly called for his church to be given the same powers of self-administration that the Moscow hierarchy has already extended to Orthodox leaders in Estonia, Latvia, and Moldova.

Not only is the Belarusian Orthodox Church far larger than those churches, he told a meeting of the Orthodox religious in Minsk this week, but failure to give it the same status is inherently offensive to many in Belarus and raises questions that are agitating not only the church but the society and government  (churchby.info/rus/974/).

Given that the Moscow Patriarchate has long treated its Belarusian hierarchs in ways little different from those that it does bishops inside the Russian Federation, including imposing the current metropolitan from the outside, this represents a remarkable turn of events which highlights growing Belarusian nationalism and possibly presages larger church shifts ahead.

After delivering his speech and then taking questions, Pavel unexpectedly asked for five more minutes to discuss “the form of effective administration” in the church and whether the Belarusian exarchate should follow the path of Ukraine, Estonia and so on. What followed was truly amazing in the Belarusian context.

“Look,” the metropolitan said, “in Estonia there are two bishops and a self-administered church; in Latvia, the situation is the same; in Moldova there are five bishops and it is self-administered [but] we have 16 bishops and we are not self-administered” but rather run from Moscow.

This is becoming offensive, Pavel continued, and it is time to raise this issue, although he said that he “does not know what the reaction” in Moscow will be or what will come next.  According to a report of the meeting by Churhby.info, his words were drowned in an ovation from the audience.

When the applause died down, the metropolitan said “thank you for your support” on something that involves “the honor of the Belarusian Orthodox church.” And he added, “today, the Russian Orthodox Church which is territorially within the borders of the Russian Federation is a powerful church.”

“The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is also a powerful church, but then there is the third, the Belarusian!” It is time, the churchman continued, to raise this question and to gain both equality and dignity.

The metropolitan said that he is “a supporter of the idea that the Belarusian Orthodox church must be powerful and strong, but as you yourselves understand, here none of us intend to leave the supervision of the Russian Orthodox Church, not in any case. We had a patriarch and we have one.”

Juncker admits the EU has limited capacity to help Ukraine

The International Monetary Fund estimates Ukraine needs another $15 billion (€12 billion) in financing to withstand an economic crisis, but the European Union has only limited capacity to help, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said yesterday (17 December).

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatseniuk appealed to the EU in Brussels this week for urgent financial aid. He says Ukraine, facing a pro-Russian rebellion in eastern territories that has killed over 4,700 people and disrupted the economy, risks defaulting unless Western donors come up with more funds.

“Ukraine will need more help,” Juncker told the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Wednesday. “The assessment of Ukraine’s financing gap has been completed by the IMF. Ukraine will need $15 billion in addition to what is already planned.”

An IMF team visited Kiev last week for talks on its existing $17 billion bailout package.

A year of revolution and war, as well as disruptions in trade and long-standing problems with corruption and mismanagement, have pushed Ukraine’s hryvnia currency to record lows, and crippled the economy.

Juncker said he expected Ukraine to request another two billion euros from the European Union, but he said the EU’s member states would have to chip in, as the EU’s executive Commission did not have enough money in its budget.

“There is only a small margin of flexibility for additional financing next year. And if we fully use our margin for Ukraine, we will have nothing to address other needs that may arise over the next two years,” Juncker said.

Putin signals he will not back down over Ukraine

Russia’s president signals he will not back down over the Ukraine crisis and insists Russian economy will recover at annual press conference.

Vladimir Putin signalled he would not back down over the Ukraine crisis on Thursday, likening the West to a bloodthirsty opponent intent on “tearing out the claws and teeth” of the Russian bear.

Speaking at his annual press conference in Moscow, Russia’s president accused the United States and European states of deciding “that they are winners, they are an empire now and the rest are vassals and they have to be driven into a corner”.

Amid a sliding rouble and a faltering economy, Mr Putin promised Russia would pull out of its downturn within two years, while offering few concrete measures to achieve that ambition.

The Russian leader brushed off a question about whether he feared a revolution in Russia if dissent grew. “As for palace coups, calm down,” he said. “We don’t have palaces therefore we cannot have a palace coup. We have the Kremlin official residence, it’s well-protected, and this is also a factor of our state stability.”

The president’s opponents were quick to post pictures online showing that many Russian officials have homes that do, in fact, look just like palaces.

There was no revelation or surprise announcement at the event, attended by 1,200 journalists, as opposed to last year when Mr Putin told journalists off the cuff at the end of the event that he was going to pardon Mikhail Khodorkovsky, the jailed oil tycoon.

But the Russian leader was tough in his words over the conflict in eastern Ukraine, once again blaming the West for starting the conflict – while ducking a sharp question from a Ukrainian journalist who asked how many Russian soldiers had died fighting there, and what he would say to their mothers.

Mr Putin denied feeding a new Cold War, railed against Nato expansion in eastern Europe – a favourite theme – and, in his most colourful language, wheeled out the image of the Russian bear to illustrate the West’s contempt for Moscow.

“Maybe our bear should stop chasing piglets and shoats through the forest and sit calmly eating berries and honey,” the Russian president said. “Maybe they will leave the bear in peace? No, they won’t leave him. They will always try to chain him up, tear out his teeth and claws … then turn him into a stuffed animal.”

Putin unapologetic, uncompromising on war against Ukraine

[extract – part of 1 sentence. Not a bad article from the KP. Saying how nothing has changed in the Kremlin.]

He [Putin] continued his usual anti-Western rhetoric and stayed true to the Russian propaganda narrative of calling the EuroMaidan Revolution an “illegitimate coup” and labeling the Ukrainian army in Donbas as “punitive squads.”

    http://www.kyivpost.com/content/kyiv-post-plus/putin-unapologetic-uncompromising-on-war-against-ukraine-375567.html

[Completely at odds with the American line of things improving. Ha ha ha… Pushed by Kerry. And obama still hasn’t signed anything to help Ukraine. The Americans are simply too scared of Russia. They don’t want to get involved. Just like in 1939. They did nothing. Sold some guns to the UK, and sat on their fat asses raking the money in for a few years whilst Hitler roamed around the world murdering millions. Expect more of the same now with Putin and the US. ]

He keeps pushing (for his people to hear) that the US is to blame. Has he forgotten that he talked Yanukovich not to sign the AA so he can instead sign with the Kremlin? That’s why, as we all know the facts that he’s only trying to gain back support within Russia that he’s lost. An indication that he’s seriously concerned.

US President still has not signed law helping Ukraine [1939; 2nd sitting]

US President Barack Obama has not yet signed a law allowing to provide military assistance to Ukraine and at the same time introducing sanctions against the Russian defense industry.
The signing of the law said at a briefing on Wednesday US State Department spokesman Jen Psak.
“He signed it yesterday,” – said Psak. Subsequently, however, the State Department has officially denied these words and said that the document was not signed.
At the same time, as reported by sources in the White House continues to believe that the law will be signed before the end of the week.
Answering the question whether the new law includes the possibility of arms supplies to Ukraine, Psak said: “He offers this feature, allows such an option.”
“This does not mean that the policy change – policy remains unchanged,” – she said.
In Moscow, a law called openly confrontational.

Ukrainian Soldier Confirms: Ukraine’s Military Shot Down Malaysian MH17 Plane

Consider the source. The investigation hasn’t been completed. Read this to see who Global Research is and what they’re about: Globalresearch.ca  Hint! Russia Today

A Ukrainian soldier who was part of the crew that operated the supposed missile-battery that the Ukrainian Government claims shot down the Malaysian MH17 airliner on July 17th has testified publicly for the first time, saying that the missile-battery was operated by the Ukrainian military, not by the rebels as asserted, and that he and his former crew-mates who operated it laughed when they heard their Government say that this missile-battery was operated by rebels and had shot the airliner down.

An English-translated transcript of the December 15th Russian-language interview with this soldier was posted at UkraineWar.Info on December 17th by Michael Collins, an investigative journalist with UkraineWar.Info who has been following very closely the multiple investigations that are proceeding into the cause of the downing.

This testimony confirms the accumulating prior, already overwhelming and even-more-convincing evidence, which is linked to in my latest article on the topic, here, all of which evidence indicates that either one or else two Ukrainian fighter-jets intentionally shot this airliner down — that it was not an error by rebels who had mis-identified this airliner as being a bomber from the Ukrainian Government, such as the Ukrainian Government and its sponsor the U.S. Government claim.

Regarding the reason why the Ukrainian Government did this, it, too, is clear: U.S. President Obama needed a startling incident in order to obtain from the EU and other U.S.-allied nations their participation in heavily increased economic sanctions to weaken Russia. As soon as this plane was downed, both the Ukrainian Government and the Obama Administration claimed that they possessed convincing proof that it had been downed by pro-Russian rebels in Ukraine’s former southeast. All U.S. allies got on board with that and agreed to hiked sanctions against Russia.

This “false flag” event (as such government fakeries are called in the intelligence communities) succeeded, just as did Hitler’s burning down the Reichstag and blaming it on leftists, which was the event that enabled him to seize total power in Germany.

THIS JUST IN (3:21PM Eastern time in U.S.) from Michael Collins: “George [Eliason, a third member of our team at UkraineWar.Info, and a resident inside the conflict-zone] says that due to the pub from the article, the ukraine govt took down their ‘damning’ pic of BUK 312 today and that the reporter who did the interview is underground and fleeing the country.”

So, the reason why Ukrainians are reluctant to go public about their lying Government is obvious. And, all of the ‘news’ media there are owned by Ukrainian, or, in some cases, by American, oligarchs. (The American ones do it through ‘nonprofit’ foundations they create, which are co-funded by the American Government. The U.S. oligarch then gets tax-write-offs, plus co-funding by U.S. taxpayers, to save him still more money on his scheme.)

      Just read this:

Globalresearch.ca (also under the domain name globalresearch.org) is the website of the Montreal-based non-profit The Centre for Research on Globalisation (CRG) founded by Michel Chossudovsky.

While many of Globalresearch’s articles discuss legitimate humanitarian or environmental concerns, the site has a strong undercurrent of reality warping throughout its pages, especially in relation to taking its news from sources such as Russia Today. Its view of science, the economy and geopolitics seems to be broadly conspiracist.

Whenever someone makes a remarkable claim and cites Globalresearch, they are almost certainly wrong.

Hungary’s Cabinet Braces for Open War in Ukraine

Hungary is in a “war zone” and must prepare for an escalation in the armed conflict between neighboring Ukraine and Russia, said Janos Lazar, the minister in charge of the Prime Minister’s Office.

“We absolutely can’t exclude the possibility of a real war between Ukraine and Russia,” Lazar, who also oversees the country’s secret services, said in an interview published in weekly Figyelo today. The conflict may yet enter a “much worse stage” as war is the most likely scenario, Lazar said according to the transcript of the interview.

Troops in Ukraine, home to more than 100,000 ethnic Hungarians, are fighting pro-Russian rebels as talks on a lasting peace deal have been delayed. Russia’s government denies any involvement in the conflict which has killed more than 4,600 and roiled the two countries’ economies.

The Hungarians are living as “hostages” in Ukraine, which is “lethally dangerous,” Lazar said. A U.S. decision to provide arms to Ukraine would be “very dangerous and distressing,” Lazar said, adding that Hungary won’t transport any arms itself.

Analysis of Ukraine Freedom Support Act after amendments

I have written this report to set the record straight about the Ukraine Freedom Support Act of 2014. My colleagues and I have seen many people, and even the media, mention the bill with misunderstanding. Part of the reason there are so many rumors and misconceptions about this recently passed piece of landmark legislation arises from the fact that the bill was subjected to a last minute amendment before its passage on Saturday evening of December 11th, and the majority of reports at the time of its passage were made based off of the bill’s text pre-amendment. The public only learned of the amendments once the text for the version of the Ukraine Freedom Support Act (UFSA) that was passed became available, days later. I will now detail the notable changes that effected the bill.

What the Ukraine Freedom Support Act will do if enacted by President Obama

If enacted, here are some of the things the Ukraine Freedom Support Act of 2014 will do:

Expert: Gazprom’s new scheme to “suffocate” Ukraine and blackmail the EU

Gazprom has started a game with goals to deprive Ukraine from gas in its strategic reserves, disrupt gas supplies to the EU in January, and to revive the South Stream pipeline project.

Mykhailo Honchar, president of the Center “Strategy XXI” expressed this opinion in an interview with Ukrinform, while commenting on yesterday’s report that the Russian “Gazprombank” (owned by Russian gas monopoly Gazprom) filed claims for 5.679 billion cubic meters of gas stored in underground gas reserves in Ukraine deposited there by Ostchem Holding, a company owned by Dmitry Firtash (a Ukrainian oligarch with close ties to Gazprom), as a collateral for $842.5 million in loans.

“According to official data from UkrTransGaz and considering the rate of gas utilization since the beginning of the heating season, Ukraine would get through the heating season still having left about 5 billion cubic meters of gas of minimum reserve in early April,” – said the expert. He thinks this situation does not suit the Kremlin, which, while reducing the use of the military component of the hybrid war, has started to escalate economic pressure on Ukraine. One of the components of this pressure is increasing Ukraine’s energy dependence on Russia via schemes involving the coal and electricity supply. The scheme for “gas suffocation” of Ukraine is just a part of this new strategy.

Letters from the ATO: Stereotypes that impede survival in ‘DNR’ and ‘LNR’

I will not pretend to be a great prophet, there are enough ‘prophets of civil war’ without me. Nonetheless, it was intuitively clear to me back in June that all this would not end quickly, and that any kind of war leads to the inevitable destruction of the infrastructure and loss of the means of survival. For city-dwellers, these losses are detrimental, as a city dweller’s survival depends not on whether their cherries had ripened in their orchards, but on whether they get their salary or pension.

The work that brought me my means of survival, disappeared in June. My company shut down.

I decided to find a new job, despite the fact that the city was under shelling. I asked my friends who were able to help. So I acted on my stereotype.

Other hostages of the situation have other stereotypes. For example, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War who lives next to me. Before September he survived on his savings, hoping that his family would help. However, his family moved back in June. In the beginning of December the veteran put on his medals and went to the ‘LNR government’ demanding to be given his pension personally (despite the fact that nobody paid any pensions since July). The ‘government’ shrugged and said they could not do anything.

In August, rumors appeared that a humanitarian convoy was coming from Russia. All the people turned in that direction. They forgot about war. About shelling. All the thoughts and conversations were exclusively about the future humanitarian aid.

The white trucks finally came to the city. The citizens were told that it was easy to receive ‘assistance.’ They just had to come to a distribution point with their passport. Every district was tied to an individual school.

The lines for the ‘assistance’ nearly resorted to murder. The ‘rebels’ with guns maintained order, which is the only reason why everyone survived.
